FPS Salvage allows you to collect small amounts of RMC by hull scraping, then use that collected RMC to repair! Repairing is necessary for repairing ship components with Engineering gameplay, in certain FPS missions to reactivate systems in a building, or to complete FPS puzzles.
Collecting RMC with the Cambio tools is not an activity you do for profit. As of 4.6 they removed empty canisters from shops, so this guide only exists to describe how to top your used canisters back up again. That said, to refill your empty/partial canisters you'll want:
Greycat multitool with Cambio-Lite SRT attachment OR the full Cambio SRT
Your Cambio-Lite/Cambio canisters
A full set of armor for environmental protection
A backpack for storing your canisters
Equip your Cambio tool and ensure you have a canister loaded. For this guide the screenshots will be of the Cambio-Lite, but the process is functionally identical for the full-size Cambio.
With the tool in your hands, press [J] to bring up the customization wheel
Mouse over the CUSTOMIZE tile and release [left click] to select it, then click on the CANISTER ATTACHMENT icon
Use [scroll wheel] to scroll to the CAMBIO-LITE SRT CANISTER and [left click] it to load it onto the multitool
Press [right click] to exit the customization menu.
NOTE: you cannot salvage ships that have their shields on.
Begin salvaging with [left click]. Stand quite close to the ship and aim the beam at the hull to scrape.
As you collect RMC you will see the right bar (yellow) fill. This is your RMC Fill Meter. Beneath it is the Battery Charge Meter.
Displaying the same information with a bit more precision is an RMC Fill Meter on your HUD in the lower right corner that gives you a specific percentage, with a Battery Charge Meter beneath it.
Once you have RMC available in your canister, you can use [right click] to activate the SRT's repair mode. The mode you are in is denoted by the downward facing arrow for salvage, or the upward facing arrow for repair (shows material flow direction - in or out).

As you repair a ship the holes in the hull will close and the hull HP will be restored. This repairs the hull, but not the paint. You will still see the remnants of the battle scars afterwards.
Your canisters have a limited capacity and will eventually fill. When this happens your RMC Fill Meter will be red, and you'll see 100% on the HUD meter.

This is the amount of hull I was able to scrape before filling a single Cambio-Lite canister from empty.
